In ASX sharemarket news, Wesfarmers Ltd (ASX: WES) subsidiary Officeworks is making the news after opening the world’s largest office supplies store.

The AFR reported that customers can test paint, office chairs and pens whilst also trying out voice technology and home automation. The Melbourne store has double the amount of products and is around four times the size as a typical Officeworks.

This new store will serve as the location for fulfilling online orders for Melbourne’s south east as it is based in Mentone whereas the distribution centre is on the other side of the CBD. The company now claims it can offer same day delivery to the Mornington Peninsula area.

Retail conglomerate Premier Investments Limited (ASX: PMV) has reported its result for the half year to 26 January 2019.

Premier’s revenue increased by 7.59% to $682.5 million and its net profit increased by 13.01% to $88.8 million. The dividend was increased by 13.8% to 33 cents per share.

Within the result, the company reported online sales growth of 35.2% to $75.7 million and now represents 12.9% of sales.

Premier Chairman Solomon Lew said: “Premier Investments has delivered another very strong result during a half that has seen many retailers struggle with challenging trading conditions.”
