In ASX sharemarket news, Westpac (ASX: WBC) has announced its FY19 result to the market.
The bank reported that statutory net profit dropped by 16% to $6.78 billion. Its cash net profit fell 15% to $6.85 billion. Excluding Royal Commission issues, cash earnings still declined by 4%.
To make sure it has enough capital to meet APRA’s requirements and any other events, Westpac is raising $2.5 billion.
But, due to the capital raising and fall in profit, the Westpac Board decided to cut the final dividend by 15% to 80 cents per share.

Pro Medicus (ASX: PME) has announced a new contract to investors this morning.
It has signed a five year deal with the Ohio State University Wexler Medical Center (OSUWMC). Visage 7 will be implemented across all of OSUWMC’s radiology departments.
The contract is based on a transaction-based licensing model which will span seven hospitals and outpatient clinics as well as being integrated to OSUWMC’s electronic health record.
The implementation will be in the second quarter of FY20 and complete in mid 2020.

Syrah (ASX: SYR) announced the first production of purified spherical graphite from its Battery Anode Material plant in Vidalia, Louisiana in the USA. The natural graphite used was from Syrah’s Balama.
Syrah Managing Director and CEO Shaun Verner said: “This is a significant step forward for Syrah in providing an alternative and complementary source of ex-China BAM supply, demonstrating our commitment to develop the first large-scale fully integrated natural graphite anode material production facility outside of China.”
