The role
Are you a gun writer?
Do you have a passion for long-term investing and want to be part of something that makes a difference?
We’re looking for a graduate investment writer to fill a six-month contract position. It’s a shorter-term contract position but if you’re passionate about what you do and love working with us, there is scope for an ongoing role.
Common tasks (in order of estimated time committed) include:
- Writing articles for Rask Media – we’re after a minimum of four articles per day, specialising on particular sectors and companies
- Editing written content across the various Rask websites
- Ongoing investment research and analysis
- Writing and producing content for our other services/brands
- Active participation in internal meetings
Essentials
- Humility and curiosity — we’d take passion over pedigree any day of the week
- A degree in one or more of commerce, finance, business, technology/engineering and accounting
- 6-12 months minimum investing experience (personal or professional – crypto doesn’t count) – graduates are encouraged to apply
- Three (or more) of the following:
- 150 IQ – or greater
- Photographic memory
- Brain control
- All of the above
- Impeccable writing proficiency and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills (written, audio, visual)
- The right to work in Australia (preferably, Melbourne)
Nice to haves
Chances are, the successful applicant will tick two or more of the following:
- Familiarity with WordPress
- Willingness to pursue post-graduate studies or the CFA program (this demonstrates your commitment to learning)
- Mad SEO skills
- Working knowledge of major social media platforms
- Financial modelling skills (financial statements are the language of investing; quantitative studies are nice but not required)
- Experience with Excel/Google Sheets and/or other types of code (PHP, Javascript, etc.)
What’s in it for you?
This is an excellent role for someone who’s extremely passionate about investing in great companies for the long run. For someone who’s prepared to work in a growing business, and for someone who wants to learn massive amounts about investing, research, business, marketing, technology and more.
The successful candidate can expect:
- An established and growing platform to launch their personal brand
- A fixed rate of pay – $52,000 p.a. + 10% super
- An opportunity to go deep and learn about businesses each and every day
- A six-month position (three-month probation period) with scope for an ongoing role
Next steps…
If this sounds like something you might be interested in, please email the following to the email address: service[at]rask.com.au (obviously, replace ‘at’ with @).
- A 300-600 word article on a popular ASX-listed company
- 300-400 words about your investing style (e.g. how you do it, who you admire, the parts of your process you want to improve, etc.)
- Resume (including relevant units, majors, minors, etc.)
Please use “I’m an investing nerd, get me outta here” in the subject line (or simply “investment writer” for the less adventurous).
Finally, this is an open-ended expression of interest. We appreciate the time it takes to apply, however, due to the extremely high volumes of applications we’re expecting to receive, we may not be able to reply or acknowledge everyone’s efforts. Therefore, I want to thank you in advance for expressing your interest in helping us on our mission to empower more people.
Cheers,
Owen
