If you think it’s acceptable to wear a polka-dot shirt in a finance business — we want to hear from you. That, or… if you’re an Illustrator + Canva legend in the making, that’ll work too.
What is Rask?

- Podcasts, events and loads more
In terms of accomplishments, we were voted the best up-and-coming financial services company on earth*.
Our culture
Rask exists to share knowledge and give single mums, young couples and retirees the tools to live life on their own terms. We empower people to invest their time and manage money with optimism. We do this by giving them the right information and insights.
Everything we do is to improve outcomes for our members, readers, listeners, students and viewers. From someone reading a news article or a student of our free courses right through to our highest tier of premium Rask members. Our returns aren’t measured by our investment performance but by the messages we receive from the tens of thousands of people in our audience who appreciate what we have done for them.
Our culture is built upon integrity, transparency, honesty and accountability to every stakeholder. You will ooze integrity and people will remark over your honesty and passion for helping others.
In return, you’ll be able to work with a motivated, greatly talented, (sometimes) funny, team that is growth-focused. You’ll get to enjoy a super flexible work-life balance, make decisions without micromanagement and be part of something big.
The role
Are you a gun designer?
Do you have a passion for creating imaginative designs and dream of being part of something that makes a real difference?
We’re looking for a junior designer to fill a casual role of around 15 hours per week (spread over 2-3 days). It’s a totally flexible position but if you’re passionate about what you do and love working with us, there is definitely scope for an ongoing role.
We’re a finance business (boring!), sure, but we’re different to just about everyone else. Just ask our customers: read some reviews here or get ahold of the feedback on our free courses, like this one here.
We think of our team members as partners or mi familia, not ’employees’. You’ll get a super-flexible work environment, make some new friends, laugh most hours of the day and be treated as an equal from the very first day. You’ll probably think ‘Am I qualified to do this?’ 20 times… before you’ve even logged into your Mac.
So, whaddya going to be doing each day?
The successful candidate for this role may be responsible for a variety of creative and fun tasks, including:
- Core design vitals: Following brand guidelines to create a range of digital graphics for social media, web, ads, online courses, podcasts, videos, presentations, etc.
- Socials: Social media scheduling (e.g. Planoly) and account management (e.g. ensuring DMs are passed to the customer service team or content team, where appropriate). We have big plans for Insta, our Facebook group & Twitter…
- Experimentation: Studying the competition and other popular brands, and analysing our engagement levels, to pitch your own designs and strategies to our content team
- Collab: Working directly with the content team on super-fly graphics and imagery for our educational courses — we’re on a mission to enrol 10,000 students in free courses!
- Poddy talk: Collaborating with our Audio-Visual producer to create custom graphics and visualisations for our podcasts and videocasts (your work will be shown across iTunes, Spotify, Google, Castbox, YouTube, and so many more!)
- Canvassing: Maintaining our company Canva account, including tagging our designs, creating repeatable brand assets across web, visuals and socials
- Workflows: you’ll learn the basics of web design for WordPress, using best-of-breed tools like Elementor, to help us design sleek & fast landing pages, featured images, animations, etc.
- In-the-inbox: you’ll learn the basics of web design for email, diving into our sophisticated automation email software called GetDrip, and (warning — we get geeky) Twilio’s SendGrid automated email design software
If you want to super-charge your learning of industry-leading tools. Love constructive feedback but also want to experiment and take control of all assets, this job is for you.
If you want a team that’s driven by high performance but actively encourage you to break things, join us.
If you want to be part of a team that embraces change. A team that’d rather rock up to work in jeans (on a good day!), this is for you.
If you want your designs to be seen by, potentially, 2 million+ people in the first 12 months, this is for you.
Essentials
- Excellent written communication skills (e.g. grammar, creativity and puns)
- Completed or currently completing a creative/design-based degree
- Proficiency with design software (particularly Illustrator and Photoshop)
- Proficiency or willingness to learn social media scheduling software and Canva
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
- Curious and creative
- Excellent layout and typography skills
- High attention to detail
- The right to work in Australia (preferably, Melbourne)
We’re actively encouraging design students to apply, especially those with an ambition to learn extremely fast, iterate and make meaningful changes inside one of Australia’s fastest growing finance brands.
Nice to haves
Chances are, the successful applicant will tick two or more of the following:
- One of the following:
- 150 IQ – or greater

- Brain control
- (just kidding… or are we…?)
- Familiarity with WordPress, bonus points for Elementor
- Decent understanding of (or willingness to learn) CSS, HTML and Javascript
- An interest in finance and investing
- Working knowledge of major social media platforms (IG, FB, Twitter, etc.)
- Mad SEO skills
Next steps…
In summary, apply to work with us if you want to make a difference to tens of thousands of families every month. Or simply if you want to earn some cash while gaining hyper-relevant industry experience and studying.
Please email the following to the email address: service[at]rask.com.au (obviously, replace ‘at’ with @).
- A 200-300 word cover letter – tell us about yourself, why you wanted to apply, make a joke and tell us how your mad skillz match the description
- Your resume (including relevant experience, units of study, etc.)
- PDF attachment or links to your portfolio or previous work
Please use “I’m a design nerd, get me outta here” in the subject line (or simply “junior designer” for the less adventurous). We’re looking to get the ball rolling ASAP.
Please note: Due to the high volume of applications we’re likely to receive we may not be able to respond to each candidate personally. So thank you in advance for your interest and time.
