The Australian Investors Podcast, Australia’s top investing podcast for professionals and private investors is back for Q&A hosted by Drew Meredith, CFP and Owen Rask. It’s called 2 Sense – and it’s our super-popular episode format.
In this episode, Owen & Drew tackle results from Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX: MQG), Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX: DMP) and dive into Vanguard Diversified High Growth ETF (ASX: VDHG).
We’re calling it “2 sense”.
In these very laid-back investing discussions we’ll attempt to answer all of your investing questions, including on ASX and global stocks, managed funds, ETFs, LICs or portfolio construction. That said, Drew and I will also any questions you want to throw at us:
- Direct stock ideas
- Macro forecasts
- Whether it’s pronounced “finn ants” or “fine arts”
- Funds management
- Something business but completely unrelated
- Financial planning
- Whether curly moustaches make you a better investor
- Portfolio construction for retirement
- Drew and Owen’s private company investing
- You name it!
Be sure to select “The Australian Investors Podcast” when it prompts you to say where you want your question answered.
If you would like Drew and Owen to cover a company on your watchlist or in your portfolio, or ask a question, use our Typeform to submit your question.
Lots of great questions answered
- I bought LI-S Energy Ltd (ASX: LIS) post-IPO at its highest. The share price has tanked since. Is it ever likely to reach its highest?
- Can you please tell me why everyone loves Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX: DMP) (I mean the business, the pizzas are awful but your opinion on the pizzas would be welcome as well). It seems to be highly leveraged and its expansion is very stretched across the globe in very disparate markets.
- Does Owen still own EML Payments Ltd (ASX: EML)… somehow Owen’s answer turned into a rant about Dubber Ltd (ASX: DUB)
- G’day gang, 1H23 Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX: MQG) interim report, what do we think? Any particular points of interest you picked up?
- Chris from heaven on earth wants an overview of Smartpay Group Ltd (ASX: SMP) versus Block CDI (ASX: CDI). Block reported its results and jumped 10%. See our results coverage of Block.
- Help, where do we find business advisors we can trust? Not just any old advisor but those who REALLY know their stuff? We are a family business dealing with succession planning (my parents are approaching retirement and my brother and I are heavily involved and will be stepping up further). I’ve been disappointed with our accountant’s help to address this knowledge gap, but perhaps they’re not the most appropriate advisors to be seeking help from with this?
- Why not just invest in Vanguard Diversified High Growth ETF (ASX: VDHG) and forget the rest?
- G’day Team. Africa! If local issues stifle their amazing potential for economic growth, I believe China’s interests in the region will prove the concept and get the ball rolling regardless. Are there any reputable Australian ETFs which invest in Africa? I’m playing a very long game of 20+ years and just want to cover the basics like Africa’s big banks.
- Breezy Brendon from Twitter – Abit of an obscure investment into an Indian restaurant. I’d love to know more about how you can effectively value a private business – maybe a thought for a future episode.
- I first got into Betashares US Equity Strong Bear Hedge Fund (ASX: BBUS) just before Covid hit but then didn’t get out quick enough for the bull run that followed and I was way too over-invested and watched my holding tumble. Since then I’ve been trading in and out between BBUS and BetaShares Geared US Equity Gund (ASX: GGUS) and it’s been working really well and I’ve been making very strong profits. Is there a name for this, trading against yourself with a portion of red and black at the same time?
I thought Melb cup Tuesdays would underperform other Tuesdays. Maybe ‘investors’ would be distracted… I was wrong.
