About this episode

We often discuss the idea of value: our own, our career, our house, our book collection, but what does this idea of value and the act of valuation mean in the context of investing?

Kate’s heard Owen talking about company valuation for over five years now, and although she get’s the general gist, she never really wrapped her head around it. So after taking it to an Insta poll, it seems like our community is also keen to understand some of these basics as well.

According to Investopedia, valuation is the analytical process of determining the current (or projected) worth of an asset or a company. The rest is a bit of a mystery to Kate, until now.

In this episode Kate grills Owen on the basics on valuation until it makes some amount of sense, and covers why valuation is worth knowing about, does it matter to ETF investors, key numbers to understand and how to continue your journey.
