Do you want to live and work better?
In this conversation, we had the opportunity to sit down and chat with media entrepreneur, author and digital nomad Tim Duggan.
“It doesn’t matter in which industry or where: too many of us are overworked, disengaged and apprehensive about the future of work.”
Tim has spent a lot of time thinking about how and why we work over the past few years and has some great ideas about how we can rethink how we work and live for the better.
We discuss some of our favourite topics, such as meaningful work, building a good life, and reclaiming our time.
“Something’s about to break, and if we don’t change direction soon it’s going to be us.”
- Two years ago, you said on Glen’s show (now This is Money) that the hypothesis for your new book (before you conducted research globally) was “the happier you are, the better worker you’ll be”. How did that hypothesis play out in the field?
- What about some of the small work experiments you’ve tried over the past few years?
- Job, Career, Calling → What’s the difference between these? Does it matter if the work we do is meaningful? Do we have to find our calling?
- How does money play a role in this? Do you think only some people will have the financial resources to find more meaningful work? Is it possible to have it all?
- How has money changed the choices you’re making with your life?
- Why is the way we are working broken? And what are some ways we can fix it at a societal and individual level?
- You spoke in the book about disengagement, burn out, stress and worries about our jobs being taken over by AI.
- What does a good life look like to you?
- Meaning in life, not meaning of life.
- How do we get off default mode in our life?
- As a self-proclaimed optimist who loves thinking about big ideas, how are you thinking about the future of work and business?
