Questions we discuss
How much in savings? → KC
Hi guys! I was just wondering how much is too much to have in savings if you’re not saving for anything in particular and you have an EF, keep 20,30,40 in savings or invest more? Thanks!
What happens to shareholders when companies fail? → Sexy REXy
In the news today I saw that REX airlines went into voluntary administration. I like REX, mostly because they fly biggies and let Hamish and Andy have a podcast party on their plane, but I have not invested. Question is, when a publicly listed company, like REX, enters voluntary administration, what does this effectively mean for the investor? What does it mean for the company? I remember Virgin Australia went into voluntary administration during COVID, it still operates. Please educate me on this.

Hi Owen, Kate and the Rask team!
I wanted to know if you had any tips and tricks about keeping up the habit of investing when you are planning on spending an extended period of time overseas (3-5 years earning foreign currency).
Before quitting my stable 9-5 job to pursue working-holidays visas, I used to make regular contributions to my ETF portfolio, however with the inconsistent nature of seasonal work, “”backpacker”” style jobs and dealing with foreign currency, making the minimum $500 purchase required by brokerages platforms has been challenging.
I understand I am choosing to prioritize experiences over growing wealth but am still interesting in maintaining the habit.
Would you thinking investing spare change in a micro-investing account would be the way to go? Or scale back and make less frequent contributions to my existing brokerage account?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. I suspect this could also apply to people taking a career break or suddenly changing to a much lower-income job and not only travellers. Thanks!
When to think about adding bond & cash ETFs? → Curious Cucumber
I’m 25 and started investing early this year after finding the Rask resources (wooh!). So far I have only been buying index ETFs (S&P and ASX). At what point in my investing journey do I need to worry about investing in bond or cash ETFs?
Essential podcast playlists → BrucyBoy
New listener but would like a play list to easily go to, use and share with family of new investors for key Spotify episodes eg: the 101 series of cash, shares, funds etc or the ETF series. It seems to take lot of time (too much) to find them and just as hard to share the series to family and friends 🙂
