📺 TV & Movies

  • Only have one streaming service at once and always put calendar reminders in to cancel
  • Cancel and return for new honeymoon deals on streaming services
  • Some libraries still do DVDs
  • On Shopback, you can get cheap Hoyts movie tickets for $11-$15 dollars 
  • Cheap Tuesdays and Sunday mornings at some cinemas
  • Rewards within your banks/super/insurance provider often do cheap tickets 

📚 Books

  • Sign up to your local library. Even if you don’t go to the library, you can take advantage of their eBook/audiobook access.
  • Local little libraries scattered throughout Australia
  • all premium Spotify users will get 15 hours of free audiobook listening for 200,000+ books in their catalogue

🎶 Shows

  • TodayTix: get last-minute deals on musicals, plays, ballets and more!
  • Sign up to mailing list for early bird offers, preview nights, etc. for the production companies or theatres you want to go to

Activities are great gifts for friends and family

  • ClassBento: a huge array of different activities
  • Picnic in the park
  • Host a dinner party or movie night at home (get creative with table settings & popcorn)
  • Pot luck or cooking with friends (kitchen experiments can be really fun)
  • Cocktails or mulled wine at home
  • Start a walking group
  • Museums & galleries in your town/capital city (often low-cost or free)
  • Your local council will have things happening
  • Take a soccer ball to your local park (it’s really fun)
  • Board games at home or in the park
  • Volunteering can be fun and rewarding

  • Go on a camping trip with friends
    • Free (and cheap) camping – WikiCampers (I think there are lots of apps now) & HipCamp (like Airbnb for camping)
  • Roadtrip to regional areas (accommodation, food and activities often much cheaper)
