
Market shrugs off iron ore worries
The S&P/ASX 200 (INDEXASX: XJO) Index rose 8.3 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 7,712.5 on Tuesday, while the broader All Ordinaries (INDEXASX: XAO) rose 9.4 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 7,973.
Formerly Facebook, Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) is ‘The Social Network’, with more than 3 billion active users across its three platforms of Facebook.com, WhatsApp and Instagram. It generates most of its revenue from targeted advertising on its platforms. It also owns virtual reality headset company Oculus.

The S&P/ASX 200 (INDEXASX: XJO) Index could not hold on to yesterday’s record close, dropping 92.5 points, or 1.2 per cent, to 7,588.2 points, with all 11 industry sub-indices losing ground.

With the third quarter earnings season unfolding, investor expectations are high and the results will need to be strong to sustain such a rally.

The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 (INDEXASX: XJO) closed 2.6 points lower, at 6,854, losing early gains. The broader All Ordinaries (INDEXASX: XAO) index, however, managed a 0.7-point gain, to 7,046.

The iShares S&P 500 ETF (ASX:IVV) could be the best way to passively invest in the stock market, in my eyes.

There’s a lot of uncertainty in the market at the moment. I’d look to quality exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that could deliver returns.
